Client Challenge: A World Class operator Without a World Class Website

 

Visit Himalaya Treks has operated out of Thamel, Kathmandu since 2009. Over 17 years, the company has built a formidable reputation: TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Award in 2023, 2024, and 2025, a Traveler’s Choice Award in 2020, and consistent Certificates of Excellence since 2017. With international representatives in Switzerland, Australia, and the Netherlands, VHT had clear global reach but its digital platform was not keeping pace.

 

Before the Rewa Soft engagement, VHT’s key pain points were clearly identified across four critical dimensions:

 

1. Discoverability & SEO

    • No structured keyword strategy for high-value search terms such as “Best trekking company in Nepal,” “Everest Base Camp trek operator,” or “Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek 2025”
    • Critical long-tail searches like “off the beaten track treks Nepal” and “safe Himalayan expedition company” returning competitors ahead of VHT
    • Missing schema markup for TripAdvisor reviews, package pricing, and local business  leaving rich-result opportunities uncaptured
    • Thin meta descriptions and missing alt text reducing crawl efficiency and image-search visibility.

 

2. User Experience & Conversion

    • Package pages lacked clear calls to action, with inquiry forms buried or absent on individual trek pages
    • Mobile experience was poor despite more than 70% of inbound traffic arriving via smartphone

Rewa Soft approached the VHT project with a methodology honed across 12+ years of adventure tourism web development most recently demonstrated in the award-winning platform built for Kami Rita Sherpa, the world’s most decorated Everest climber. The engagement followed five integrated phases:

 

Phase 1: Discovery, Brand Architecture & Keyword Research

The project began with extensive in-person workshops at Rewa Soft’s Kathmandu studio and field consultations with VHT’s founding team. These sessions mapped:

    • Audience personas: solo adventure trekkers, group expedition clients, European luxury travelers, corporate team-building groups, and media/documentary professionals
    • Competitive search landscape: keyword gap analysis across 200+ target terms, identifying high-volume, low-competition opportunities in off-the-beaten-path trek categories
    • Content hierarchy: 6 primary activity clusters (Trekking & Hiking, Peak Climbing, Expeditions, Tours & Sightseeing, Adventure Activities, Luxury Holidays) structured for both UX and crawl efficiency
    • Trust architecture: mapping where and how VHT’s awards, affiliations, press mentions, and traveler reviews would appear in the information hierarchy

Phase 2: Custom UX/UI Design

Rewa Soft’s design team built a bespoke visual identity system anchored in the visual language of the Himalayas: expansive hero imagery, high-contrast typography, and a navigation architecture that allows a traveler to move from destination discovery to package detail to inquiry in three clicks or fewer.
