4,197,152 people have been confirmed to have been infected with Corona Virus as of 11th May 2020, causing 284,096 deaths. But 1,500,440 have successfully recovered around the globe. So, there is not much room to worry if we remain careful and cautious about our practices.


In the context of Nepal, cases have been confirmed in 121 people out of whom 31 have successfully recovered. The data shows that getting infected with COVID 19 does not necessarily mean death as long as you take proper measures to fight against the virus. The primary thing is to try not to get infected but in case you have come into contact with someone who has been infected you must go for isolation so that you save your family from getting infected.


Surely, there have been threats because of this global pandemic and there have been major downfalls around the globe. But instead of panicking, we must be careful about how to prevent the spread of this virus so that lifestyle can get back to normal.


By now most of us already know the answer to this: “How does Corona Virus or COVID 19 spread?”


Corona Virus is one of the respiratory viruses that spread primarily through droplets that come from an infected person when s/he coughs, sneezes, or any kind of discharge from nose or mouth. This is why we need to maintain social distancing and stay away from those who have symptoms of COVID 19. The other major thing to focus on to prevent getting infected is boosting the immune system.


After 45 days long lockdown, the government of Nepal has decided to allow certain sectors and Industries related to construction, Internet, Financial Institutions, Agriculture based industries, and many more. This will certainly help the economy but might place people at risk too so we suggest everyone to maintain social distancing, use masks, avoid personal contacts, take good care of their diet and lifestyle so that they can enhance their immune system and prevent infection.


At Rewa Soft, we have practiced the following few ways to make everyone feel comfortable at work:


The first thing we do as we enter the office is: sanitize our hands with alcohol-based sanitizers. We also wash our hands often with soap and water and each time we use the washroom, we make sure we sanitize our hands.  Our desks and chairs are also cleaned thoroughly with disinfectants for safety purposes.


    1. Keep Distance

In order to maintain social distancing, we greet each other without shaking hands. Also, we have kept our desks at least 1.5 meters away from each other. By this, we will have less chance to get in contact with our colleagues even if they sneeze or cough.


    1. Use Masks

We do value our as well as our colleague’s health, so we make sure everyone has masks on their face.


    1. Biometrics on Rest

To avoid any kind of contact with each other, we have kept our biometric device aside. For a certain time, we will be following a manual based attendance system managed by an admin.


    1. Eat Healthy and fresh lunch

At Rewa Soft, we eat freshly prepared healthy and hygienic lunch. This ensures quality and also eliminates the risks of getting any unwanted illness during this pandemic.


    1. Virtual Interactions

Some of our team members are stuck outside the valley so we communicate with them virtually with the help of Slack and Asana.


In addition to this, it is also very important to take care of your immune system. Here are some tips for a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet to help prevent major as well as minor diseases.


      1. The first thing to keep in mind is maintaining personal hygiene that includes: taking bath regularly, washing hands and feet often, regular cleaning of towels, bedsheets, and other utensils and moreover keeping the home clean.

      2. Vitamins help to boost immunity. Especially, Vitamin A, Vitamin C Vitamin D, and Vitamin E are known to help in enhancing the immune system in humans.
        • Vitamin A is abundantly found in Green leafy vegetables and yellow fruits.
        • Likewise, citric fruits like lemon, oranges as well as grapes contain Vitamin C, which helps in preventing cold.
        • For Vitamin D, go for mushrooms, egg yolks and expose yourself to sunlight at least for 15 minutes to half an hour a day.
        • Similarly, avocado, sunflower seeds, spinach, almonds, cashew nuts, pistachios, kiwi, and mangoes are good sources of Vitamin E.

      3. Antioxidants also help to strengthen immunity as they are known to prevent or slow the damage to cells caused by free radicals and unstable molecules produced by the body itself or by the environment. The major sources of antioxidants are Walnuts, turmeric, garlic, onions, Green Tea, Broccoli, tomatoes, Kiwi, and carrots to name but few.

      4. Lastly, White Blood Cells and Red Blood Cells also contribute to strengthening the immune system by fighting against any external particles or germs that enter into us. Pomegranate, Beet Root, Tomatoes, Kidney Beans, Lemon, Cashew nuts help to promote the better production of these cells in the body.

Besides these measures, drinking hot water with ginger and turmeric instead of tea, soaking all kinds of green vegetables in saline water before consumption, following a regular eating time table, regular consumption of seasonal fruits, exercising for at least 30 minutes a day and drinking plenty of water can help in strengthening our natural immune system which will not only help fight against COVID 19 but many other viral diseases too.
